Rank

Ranked mode allows players to queue for a more serious game experience with visible MMR, stricter matchmaking, and leaver penalties.

Players must reach Profile level 20 to unlock Ranked Mode.

Unranked

Accounts start each season as Unranked, and must play 5 placement matches in order to be placed into a rank. The highest placement achievable by a fresh account is Gold I or Platinum III by winning all 5 placement matches.

Rules

Rank Decay

Players that reach Diamond or above and later stop playing for a long period of time will experience rank decay, which will put their account into a 'High Rank Placement' state.

• Once in this state, players must play additional placement matches to be played before recovering their rank.

Playing additional matches while highly ranked will bank safe days during which your account will be protected from rank decay.

• Maximum of 30 days at Diamond
• Maximum of 10 days at Guardian

Leaver Penalty

If you leave a match before it ends and you fail to re-connect within a certain time, a penalty will be given out.

• Accumulating penalty points will ultimately lead to a temporary ban from Ranked Mode.
• Penalty points do decline and reset for players if no penalties have been accumulated after a certain amount of time.

Party Size

Players may queue for Ranked matches both as solo players and in parties. Some matchmaking rules apply here:

• Matchmaking will try to match solo players with other solo players first.
• Matchmaking will try to match parties with other parties first.
• Parties can only queue for Ranked matches if their members are within six ranks of each other.
  • The exception to this rule is a full party of five players.

Promotions

• Advancing between minor ranks (ex. Silver III to Silver II) happens instantly as soon as the MMR threshold is reached.
• Advancing between major ranks (ex. Silver I to Gold V) requires the player to win an additional game before achieving the new rank, which is called a Promotion game.

Seasons

Seasons will last for 3 months. The current season (Season 0) will only last 1 month according to the in-game countdown.

At the end of each season, players ranks and MMR are reset.

Rewards

Rewards can be earned by obtaining a given rank within a season, and will stay unlocked even if the player later loses that rank during the season.
