Gig Draft League

Draft

• 4 captains will be chosen, aiming for a similar skill level and a good knowledge of players within the community.
• Captains will seeded before choosing players via snake draft. Captains will be informed of the process with more detail later.

In-Season Format

The format for the general season will be a Bo3 between two teams. The captains will coinflip at the beginning. The winning captain can choose to either get host privileges in game 1 or to be team A in map bans. The other team will get the option the winning captain did not select.

Map Picks

Bo3:

1. Team A bans one map.
2. Team A picks map 1.
3. Team B picks map 2.
4. Team B bans one map.
5. Team A picks map 3.

Character Draft

Each team gets one ban, and then a snake draft pick. Time limit of 45 s. per character.

Hosting

Alternatively, captains may agree to attempt to queue-snipe instead of using custom games. If both captains agree, these count as equally valid Bo3 games regardless of the rolled maps.

The loser of the previous game may assert their right to host. However, if captains agree to have someone else host, that is equally valid.

Hosts must be located in NA with ethernet. The exception is if both captains agree to have someone in EU host, that is acceptable and will be counted as an official game. However, one captain can always force the game to be hosted on NA. Players should be drafted with region in mind - assume non-NA players will be on high ping. If a team does not have a viable host (NA, with ethernet) then they forfeit their right to host games.

Reporting Results

Captains are responsible for score and stat reporting. Please remember to have you or someone screenshot a scoreboard both at the end of a match and in the post-results screen.

Post-Season Format

To determine the seasonal winner, the top two teams from the regular season will play in a finals match.

Seeding will be determined by these criteria, in this order:

1. Win-Loss
2. Head-to-Head Record
3. Head-to-Head Map Differential
4. Overall Map Differential
5. Head-to-Head Wound Differential
6. Overall Wound Differential
7. Average Win Time

The finals match will be a Bo5. The higher seed can opt for either the only map ban in the series or to be the first host.

The remaining two teams may choose to play a match to determine 3rd place. This is not mandatory, though.

Scheduling

In general, teams may schedule their match for the week at any time that works for both teams. However, the GDL will encourage teams to play their match at the same times every week, probably on Friday and Saturday evenings (5:30 PST - 8:30 EST). The goal of the format is to be accommodating as possible, though, so if scheduling happens to be an issue for a week please contact an organizer to help set up a make-up match. Making these specific times every week is not necessary to play in the GDL, but it does make organization and scheduling much easier on volunteers.

As a last resort, a team can choose to draw a fill for a player from one of the two teams that are not playing in a match. A fill for a player must be selected lower in the draft order than the player they are filling for. Playing for one's proper team takes precedent over filling for another team. I will also work to create a fill pool from players who register late or are not available enough to play in the regular season.

Each team will play each other team once in the regular season. Schedules will be determined once captains can best assess the availability of their team's players.
