Playstyle
Wu is a mobile, evasive melee fighter/assassin with tons of crowd control and decent single target damage.
- He can play near his team for big follow up damage on pulled targets, or make solo plays to try to assassinate or ring-out.
- Nearly all of Wu's skills give great mobility, which lets him easily chase down his targets and makes him hard to hit.
- His E is a medium range pull that is perfect for initiating a fight or securing a kill, and can even score some cheeky ring outs.
- Wu's Focus provides yet another source of CC to his kit, and gives powerful buffs for up to 10 seconds.
Movement, unpredictability, cooldown management, and team coordination let Wu turn the tide of any match.
Skills
Throw a wave of water forward, then follow up with a lunging strike.
Wu can aim the lunging strike, sending it in a different direction than the wave.
The in-game tooltip incorrectly states that the 2nd hit deals +50 dmg to cancelled enemies, but it actually deals +100 dmg.
Sends out his tongue, pulling in the first enemy hit.
- Projectile (can it be deflected? (needs testing)).
- Pulls enemy (interrupts).
- 1.28s animation, can be cancelled with dodge or focus.
- After 0.73s can be cancelled with any skill.
- Tongue still travels and hits if cancelled.
- Target will be pulled to Wu's original location when the hit connected, even if Wu is moving or cancels the animation.
Lunge forward with a spinning uppercut.
Upgrades
LMB - Rain of Blows / Jump Kick / Recycle
After using any non-LMB skill, press LMB to use Flowing Fist.
When dodge attacking, use Flowing Fist instead of Recycle.
- This effect has a 3s cooldown.
- When on cooldown, Recycle is used as normal.
This results in less damage dealt unless the target is above 50 armor. Damage buffs change this breakpoint.
Automatically uses Cyclone Kick when using a basic attack while sprinting.
- When on cooldown, normal basic attack is used.
RMB - Splash Kick / Downpour
Splash Kick
- If Downpour is not used, cooldown is reduced to
9s5s.
Q - Crashing Waves
Crashing Waves
- If all hits miss, reset the cooldown of Splash Kick.
E - Tonguelash
Tonguelash
- On hit,
15s20s cooldown.- On hit,
- On hit, reset the cooldowns of Splash Kick and Crashing Waves.
This upgrade has no effect after taking the T E - Tongue Tide talent. This is a bug.
Tonguelash
- For 2s after hit, next hit with any skill deals +100 dmg.
- If the first hit of any skill misses, this effect is lost.
The +100 dmg is affected by damage scaling, so certain skills will deal more or less than +100. For example, jump attack deals +200 dmg, and focus deals +80 / +100 / +120 dmg. Most other skills deal +100, but was not extensively tested (needs testing).
F - Typhoon's Fury / Passive
Passive
- When regenerating stamina in combat, gain
+20+25 per second. 7s5s combat timer.
The in-game tooltip states only that health regeneration begins 2s earlier, but the actual effect reduces the combat timer, meaning that sprinting and jumping will also cost no stamina 2s earlier.
Passive
- On dodge, +15% damage with basic attacks for 3s.
- The above damage buff is always active for backstab damage, even without dodging.
This affects regular attacks, jump attacks, and dodge attacks.
The in-game tooltip incorrectly states that the 3s buff is also gained on backstab hit, but it is not.
Talents
Notes
- Wu is one of the best characters to get ring-outs with, as he can jump off a cliff with RMB, pull an enemy, then kick back to safety, leaving the pulled enemy to fall to their death.
- Try not to burn all your cooldowns at once - when spread out they give Wu constant mobility, but if all skills are on cooldown at once Wu becomes a sitting duck.
- Pull enemies into your teammates for them to follow up.
- Try not to pull an enemy that is already being CC'ed by a teammate, as your pull may cause allies skills to miss.
- Enemies can dodge Tonguelash if they know it is coming, so try to be unpredictable with the timing and angles you use it.
- When available, use Focus early in a fight in order to get maximum value out of the damage and armor buff.
